Saw this last week. I highly recommend it, but be warned – if you are squeamish, turn away during the scene when some hooks are produced for torture purposes!

    I’m not squeamish, but I’ve been rubbing my chest ever since, and the feeling still won’t go away, it just won’t…&nbsp; <!– s:-X –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/lipsrsealed.gif" alt=":-X" title="Lips Sealed" /><!– s:-X –>

I’ve heard about Idi Armin .. he was more than a little doolahly wasn’t he.

Didn’t they find body parts in his fridge or something? (i think he’d turned to cannibalism) – fascinating what qualities it requires to become leader of a country . . .

Don’t know if the cannibalism was ever proven, and in the film it’s only referred to by him saying that the media is inventing lies against him.

‘Those body parts were just resting in my fridge…’

The media shouldn’t ‘ve had to lie about him – the truth was bad enough. He was one scary f**ker.

I haven’t seen it but my dad has. He was telling me his new catchphrase is, "But you didn’t convince me !".

    Was he really that bad?

He always had his detractors round for dinner.

Yes, that line raised a laugh in the cinema. Not a loud laugh, but a kind of almost-depressed, worried laugh. If you see the film, it’ll make sense.

Watched it last week. Great film.

Did that fella win an oscar for it? It was a good performance but hardly worthy of an award, still I wouldn’t count the oscars as actually going to anyone who deserves them, best film of last year was, in my humble opinion, the World’s Fastest Indian. Didn’t even get a mention.

Forest Whitaker did win the Best Actor Oscar. There have been stranger winners, though. Like Al Pacino (Andred in my remake of the Invasion of Time) winning for his OTT turn in Scent of a Woman when he’d missed out loadsa times before for far better stuff.

    "Hoo-hah!"
