Now THAT is excellent. Martin Shaw gives the role of a priest destined to be the next chief exorcist of rome some much needed (sorry the word is becoming a bit cliched) "gravitas" in what could have been a by-the-numbers portrayal. All he wants is to carry on his work for the "causes of the saints" department (who investigate miracles and report on whether someone should be canonised or not) but the underworld of demons have other ideas… They want to convert him to THEIR cause.

There are genuine shocks and real gross out moments coupled with intriguing storylines and subplots.

Compulsive viewing for this 6 part drama
