Does anyone remember this UK children’s series from the early 70s?

I just wondered if anyone can put in a good word for it. I don’t think I ever saw it, but it’s tempting to buy on DVD, and I’m a bit unsure what to expect.

Any thoughts?

A Fantastic series – it’s just a pity that you will miss out on the earliest episodes which were the best

I doubt you will be disappointed

Thanks for the info, Nhoj.

Are the earliest episodes missing or unavailable on DVD? I know the one that’s just out is Series 3.

This series looks right up my street. I love 70s telly. I think a purchase is in order – this and Nigel Kneale’s "Beasts."

Result!!

Other shows which I rated as a youngster are ‘Timeslip’ (I doubt that this one has survived the test of time <!– s:( –><!– s:( –>) I haven’t seen it since first broadcast in the early ’70s I believe and….. ‘Sky’ ….

The Strange tale of an alien cast to earth in a young human body…… (worked for me at the time) – Mid Seventies??

Oh – and anything by Nigel Kneale is worth a look*

Sky and Timeslip are both available on DVD, in case you didn’t know.

I can remember them both, but only very vaguely. I think if Timeslip hasn’t stood the test of time, Sky will be even worse!

As for the Tomorrow People, I’m not even going there!

Funny you should mention Timeslip as i’ve got the video in front of me. I haven’t watched it for years but i do recall thinking when i first saw it that it was far better than i thought it would be. It take itself seriously as Sci fi . . . and is not at all twee.

I’ve got the Tomorrow People episodes on DVD and yeap they’re a bit dodgy for the most part. I love the title sequence and the concept AND there are a few gems in the mix.

Never seen Ace of Wands … i saw a clip on the BBC 4 programme Childrens Television – 1970s – they spoke very highly of it (bar the effects). Let us know what you think CS … i might have to investigate that one myself.

Ok, will do. <!– s;) –><!– s;) –>

I used to love the Tomorrow People. Ran home from school to watch it. The title sequence and music were scary. But clips I’ve seen in recent years look embarrassing.

"SKY" – this is the first time I’ve heard this show mentioned outside my own memories since it was on. It is so far back in my memory data banks it’s super sketchy. Can just about remember these things: am I on the right track?

1) Boy with strange powers in a kind of Man Who Fell To Earth kind of way
2) A cave?
3) The music : a two note doom-doom which I used to play on my electric organ.
4) His eyes glow?
5) He had two child friends, a boy and a girl… who kept him secret?
6) He could see the future?

It will be interesting to see how much of that is true or false. I’m going off into the tinternet to see what I can find!
