Tilda Swinton Should Be The Doctor, Says Paul McGann

Speaking in June at Collectormania, here you can catch a Paul McGann interview with the Flicks and the City, which he discusses his return in The Night of the Doctor and a new Five(ish) Doctors Reboot.

The Eighth Doctor actor also shares his thoughts on Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor and why Tilda Swinton would have been a brilliant Doctor, as well as why he thinks The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot was the highlight of the Doctor Who 50th anniversary celebrations.

Obviously, these are entirely his opinions, but it remains an interesting interview, despite the slightly showbiz nature of the line of questioning…

Ok so everytime someone sticks a microphone in front of him he should just tell them to go away.

That would be great for his public image…

Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing Peter Capaldi in the role, hope and believe he will be excellent, and would like to see him continue in the part for a number of years. When the position is vacant, then, and only then, is the time to discuss who might be good as the next Doctor.

  4. Oh no she shouldn’t be the Doctor, says Paul Aspel (But i’d like to see you back as the Doctor once more Paul!)

  5. ha ha ha mccoy walking through the background. i love it.

No she shouldn’t. Nor any other female actress however talented they may be. There’s plenty of roles for talented female actresses out there already (especially in the sci-fi and fantasy landscape) so please leave Mr. Who alone!

Slightly off point but reading earlier about the new female Thor – designed, say Marvel, to attract female readers. But note that she is a typical comic book female fantasy figure (she’s a big girl!) so not really a role model of female empowerment. Given all the female characters around – Black Widow is an obvious example – surely not necessary to do this? Still, Thor was never the same after Dr Blake was discarded!
