David Tennant’s Richard II has been hailed as one of the finest performances in recent memory, gaining glowing five-star reviews from anyone who sees it.
Of course, we Whovians aren’t surprised by this, we have known just how good David is for many years now. Now though, everyone has a chance to see the production as it has rolled into cinemas across the world in much the same way that the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who did, and as a special treat Chicago is getting an extra opportunity to see Richard II on the big screen, and for free no less, to replace the cancelled event earlier this month.
The Chicago encore presentation of Richard II is the only Free Screening in yhe United States and will be held Saturday, May 24th at Columbia College Chicago in Ferguson Lecture Theater from 1:00pm – 4:30pm. The Ultimate-TV host, Rachell Montgomery will host the fun-filled event celebrating the 450th birthday of William Shakespeare. Enjoy food, games, prizes and a very special performance from Chicago Youth Shakespeare.
If you’re in Chicago get yourself along and enjoy what promises to be a tremendous event and chance to hook up with fellow Whovians, or possibly make a few converts, all while enjoying David Tennant in all his big screen glory. And if you do make it why not drop us a line and tell us how it was, maybe send some pictures of the event, at the very least leave us a message below and tell us what you think about such events, do you thing they are a great way to attend events that would otherwise be impossible or do you think it is taking away from the experience of theatre and making it more like a cinema experience?
