Tom Riley Cast In Mark Gatiss’ Doctor Who Series 8 Episode

Casting news for Doctor Who Series 8 continues to emerge, with confirmation today that Tom Riley will appear in the forthcoming run of episodes.

The story, scripted by Mark Gatiss, is scheduled to be the third in Peter Capaldi’s first season as the Doctor.

Tom Riley has come to prominence recently playing Leonardo in Da Vinci’s Demons, the second series of which is about to appear on Fox in the UK. This series has some high level Who connections, with Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner in charge as Executive Producers.

Riley has previously appeared in hit detective drama Lewis and Olympic Games send up Twenty Twelve. Other credits include ITV’s Monroe and the film St Trinian’s II: The Legend of Fitton’s Gold, alongside Tenth Doctor David Tennant.

Paul Murphy is on directing duties for this episode, with recording now underway as part of block three, where a second episode will be written by Gareth Roberts.
