New Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Prologue [VIDEO]

The time has come for you to watch The Fall of Arcadia in this new Doctor Who 50th anniversary minisode, a prologue to Saturday’s big event, The Day of the Doctor.

Released earlier today on iTunes (amid a pricing controversy that saw UK viewers charged to download the minisode – if they could even watch it in its entirety, the clip - titled The Last Day - places the viewer in a POV situation as the Daleks invade Gallifrey. Click play above to enjoy (and apologies for the advert).

Oooh! Shades of the Vashta Nerada with the skull premonition methinks. Why is it when someone says ‘Nothing can get through…’ you just know it will?

    • avatar Colin says:

      …or “That’s not a premonition”–and you know it is! :) Good stuff!! :D

      • avatar vortexter says:

The premonition thing is a nice nod to the past. The Doctor saw the assassination of the president via premonition and Goth states that Prydonians ‘see ahead a little more’ than others. Quite suspensefull and nicely done.

Regarding the pricing controversy for UK residents, apparently the BBC are trying to resolve the issue with iTunes:

“This is an error on the part of iTunes. This should have been free. We’re waiting to hear back from them about how this will be rectified.”

I have a solution: post free stuff on YouTube. That’s what YouTube is for, isn’t it? :)

Even though you know something’s coming, I still was surprised to a certain extent. Nicely done!

As a piece of trivia, when The War Doctor (Hurt) is in the Gallifreyan barn in front of the red crystal machine, you can see some hexagonal dome ‘Frames’ covering up some packages being stored. Looks like this is a recycled piece of the Arcadia set as the Ariel pointing up at the Sky trenches is one of the self same props!

    • Or It’s the ruins of Arcadia?

The Timelords really need to rethink a few things if they are building installations that can be taken out with a single Dalek!!! At least the Daleks had the decency to send a serious force to do the job and it wasn’t all too embarrassing. But seriously “a SINGLE Dalek” for the great Lords of Time and overseers of the Universe? How ever did they win the Vampire wars??

    • avatar vortexter says:

The Fifth Doctor took out a Dalek by pushing it out of the first floor of a warehouse! The new Daleks have obviously had their Weetabix.
