Nightmare in Silver Clip Released

Those old teases at the BBC have released the first clip from this week’s Doctor Who Series 7 episode Nightmare in Silver, in which the Time Lord comes face to face with a frightening new version of the Cybermen!

This clip features Matt Smith as the Doctor, Jenna-Louise Coleman as Clara and Warwick Davis as Porridge.

Neil Gaiman’s script marks an interesting new take on the Cybermen in an episode that is quite unlike any you have seen before…

Nightmare in Silver airs on Saturday, May 11th and is scheduled at 7.00pm on BBC One and BBC HD, and 8 ET on BBC America.

Looks like Gaiman’s making the Cybermen main players again. That can only be a good thing, I hope. Doesn’t look like we’ll get any link back to Pedlar and Davis’ originals though. Pity. Still, at last an imaginative writer has turned up.

There’s more good dialogue in this 30 second clip than other episodes have in their whole 40 minutes. Looks great and sounds a classic. Picking up worlds cheap because they were ruined in the Cyberwar. Great stuff.

I love the line “Its hard to fight an enemy that uses your armies as spare parts”. We all know about Cyber conversion, but I don’t think its ever been put so chillingly, that if human soldiers are captured or even killed, their immediate material. You lose, but the Cybermen win, even if its not a strategic win.
