Moving on is one of the biggest things about being a fan of Doctor Who or working for the show. It’s constantly evolving and changing and is one of those rare television shows where the sum is bigger than its parts.

Former Doctor Who Companion Karen Gillan Stars in Oculus

So as we all sat down on Christmas day to watch The Snowmen, excited to see what the next stage for Jenna Louise-Coleman was going to be in Doctor Who and how exactly Steven Moffat was going to throw her character from death in a Dalek Asylum to fun in Victorian London it’s funny to think that the only person that was really mourning the loss of the Ponds was the Doctor. We as an audience had already moved on, the Doctor was getting used to shouting out to Clara rather that Amelia and Karen Gillan, gawd bless her long legs and fiery spirit, was busy making the transition from television to films.

Clearly not one to sit around and take a break after what must have been a gruelling three year shooting schedule with the Doctor Who team, Gillan has been on set and Tweeting from her new horror film that she is starring in, Oculus. In the movie, Gillan plays an orphan whose parents were killed when she was very young. Although her brother was blamed for the murders, on her character Kaylie knows the real truth that her parent’s death was in fact caused by a haunted antique mirror. Is director and co-writer Mike Flanagan tapping into Snow White for his scares here?

The picture above was originally Tweeted by Karen herself; Oculus doesn’t yet have an official release date but is expected sometime in 2013.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
