David Morrissey, the man that many once thought would be taking over the role of the Doctor from David Tennant, has recently appeared on US chat show The Craig Ferguson Show for a little chat about his recent work, especially The Walking Dead.

But the actor did take a few minutes to talk about his brief stint on the show and working with the old Doctor Who production team in 2008’s The Next Doctor. In fact, when Morrissey points to the small scale model of the TARDIS on Ferguson’s desk to comment that he had been in the real thing, he gets a massive shout of appreciation from the audience, showing just how popular Doctor Who is in the US.
Wind through the following clip to around 30:25 to catch the interview.
Morrissey reminisces about how former Executive Producer Russell T Davies approached him to ask if he could spin the story that the actor was in fact going to be the next actor to replace David Tennant as the Doctor but could not reveal to anyone, even his children, that he wasn’t going to actually follow through with this.
