Itineraries at the ready Whovians – it’s San Diego Comic Con time!
Yes, it’s that time of year again when the great and the geeky descend upon San Diego to indulge their pass times, meet some of their favourite stars and artists behind some the most geek friendly entertainment, and bag themselves some exclusive merchandise over the coming four days.
So what do Doctor Who fans have to look forward to at this year’s SDCC?
Between 13:00 and 14:00 on Saturday 14th at the Indigo Ballroom, Hilton San Diego Bay front the Eleventh Doctor himself Matt Smith will be part of a lively discussion with some of TV’s hottest stars: – TV Guide’s Fan Favourites!
TV Guide Magazine’s Editor-in-chief Debra Birnbaum will moderate a panel of TV’s hottest stars, share some gossip and discuss what it’s like to work in television along with; Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead), Nathan Fillion (Castle), David Giuntoli (Grimm), Joel McHale (Community), Liam McIntyre (Spartacus), Jasika Nicole (Fringe), Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf), and Maggie Q (Nikita).
Later on that day between 19:00 and 20:00 Doctor Who prop master Nick Robatto will be joining many of his top prop making peers such as Andy Siegel (The Amazing Spider-Man) and John Eblan (Star Wars Episodes II and III) for the workshop Building Props for Sci-Fi in the 21st Century taking place in room 24ABC.
There fans will learn how their favourite props are made; from inception to production, the impact of accelerated TV production schedules and technology and how TV and film props are conceived and created.
And then Sunday 15th at 12:30 it’s the big one; BBC America’s Doctor Who panel – stars Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Arthur Darvill will join award-winning lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat (Sherlock) and award-winning executive producer Caroline Skinner (The Fades) for a Comic-Con panel and Q&A.
As fans eagerly await the new season’s premiere, BBC America is making sure Steven Moffat brings new footage to reveal on the big screens in Hall H.
