Big Finish’s Greater Measures

First of all, the good news: Counter-Measures, the Doctor Who spin off from Remembrance of the Daleks is now available from Big Finish on CD or via download.

Featuring Simon Williams, Pamela Salem and Karen Gledhill as Group Captain “Chunky” Gilmore, Rachel Jensen and Allison Williams respectively, four hour-long stories will make up the box set that will follow the adventures of the team in 1964 as they investigate strange phenomena and dangerous new science. It’s a bit like a fresh new take on UNIT but nothing like UNIT!

Now for the even better news, because the production of series one has gone so well, Big Finish has announced that series two has already been given the green light and is being created as you read this very article. Scripts are being written and recording will take place in October this year when Pamela Salem flies in from the USA.

Producer David Richardson is already getting started:

“[The] enthusiasm and love for the characters and setting has resulted in four stories we’re all very proud of…on the strength of season 1, a second run has already been commissioned and scripts are just starting to come in.”

So if you fall in love with Counter-Measures (which we’re sure you will) then you won’t have to worry about whether a second series will ever appear, it’s already in the works!

Counter-Measures series one is available now on CD or via download, Counter-Measures series two is available for pre order at a special discount price. You can do both of these things by visiting www.bigfinish.com

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
