Just like the Doctor and company did for The Impossible Astronaut the Daleks are crossing the pond, except they are skipping the United States altogether and heading north, to Canada.
Batten down the Hatches, the Daleks are storming Halifax, Canada.
From October 26th to October 28th 2012 Nicholas Briggs will be in Halifax, Nova Scotia for the third annual Hal-Con Convention and the fans seem to be loving it.
Hal-Con co-chair Jennifer Lambe had this to say when asked about bringing in Mr. Briggs:
“For year 3 of Hal-Con, we wanted to tap into Doctor Who. With the show approaching its 50th anniversary, we felt it was essential to provide that connection. The Daleks are a staple of the show, and Nicholas Briggs has worked with a lot of the actors over the years, I expect he’ll have some great stories to tell.” – Jennifer Lambe
When asked what special something Briggs would bring to the con she replied “We’ve never had a “villain” before, so that will be new.”
Nicholas Briggs will be joined by sci-fi and fantasy alumni such as Sliders and Lord of the Rings star John Rhys-Davies and Star Trek star René Auberjonois as well as authors Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn and Wheel of Time), Rachel Caine (Morganville Vampires) and duo Matthew LeDrew (Black Womb, Infinity) and Ellen Curtis (Infinity).
Hal-Con is a sci-fi & fantasy convention run, and owned, by volunteers. Based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia in the east coast of Canada, their first convention was in 2010 and premiered with great success. They followed it up with a triumphant return in 2011. After this year Nicholas Briggs will join the ranks of Hal-Con guest alumni, sharing that privilege with such names as Denise Crosby (ST:TNG), Walter Koenig (ST:TOS), Bill Murphy & Kevin Corbett (MST3K), Erin Gray (Buck Rogers), Nicholas Brendon (BTVS), JG Hertzler (ST:DS9), and Robert Maillet (300).
