TV Tonight – Australia’s ‘leading TV Blog’ – have reported that plans are afoot for multiple episodes to be filmed Down Under in mid 2012.
Following on from its transatlantic first with last years two part opener The Impossible Astronaut/ Day of the Moon the episodes would most likely feature in 2013.
Now the rumours are little more than unconfirmed ‘whispers’ at the moment but who wouldn’t want to see the Doctor heading to a land down under? Maybe in a proto – western set in the outback? The Gold Rush?
There is precedent for the Doctor Who crew boarding an Easyjet – ABC have in the past co-funded The Five Doctors and before that John Nathan Turner created Aussie companion Tegan (potential reunion, perhaps!) in the vain hope of being able to film in the Southern Hemisphere.
Hopefully it’ll work better than JNT’s trip to Lanzarote…

I’m sure going to Australia would be cool, but I’d like to see them film some episodes in Canada. They did the TV movie here but that doesn’t count. Considering the support we’ve given the show over the years and the fact one of its creators, Sidney Newman, was Canadian, I’d love to see them over here. Japan would also be a cool filming location.
Japan would be a great location (I live here), but is unlikely. NHK, the national broadcaster, was utterly inept in its scheduling of the programme (late at night, basically) so it failed to take off here.
