Kasterborous Site News Update
Over the past few weeks we’ve introduced a great new look on Kasterborous which has really gone down well. With a few other things going on and a couple of new features yet to be added, we thought now was a good time to bring you up to speed on life here at Kasterborous Towers.
The Kasterborous Redesign
Our new look is the first since Kasterborous opened back in 2005 that had no input from designer Anthony Dry. However you will of course have noticed that there are similarities with the previous layout, to such an extent that we credit Anthony as the designer of the site’s visual style, while the layout is governed by a new third party template.
But what does all of this really mean?
The aim with this redesign was to make things a little easier both in terms of commenting and sharing content (see below) and in highlighting content that you might have missed. To this end we now have a search function, a tag cloud and notification of new comments on the right-hand side of the homepage, not to mention a list of new items on every other page so that you can stay up-to-date.
The result of these changes and the removal of the “random Doctors” is a faster, more usable site that delivers as much Doctor Who news as you can handle!
Social Sharing Buttons
A late addition to the redesign is the restoration of the social sharing buttons, enabling those of you on Twitter and Facebook to let your followers and friends know about content on Kasterborous that they should check for themselves. If you don’t use these social networks, however, fear not – we now utilise the ShareThis email sharing tool, enabling you to send interesting pages of Doctor Who goodness to your friends’ inbox!
The Return of the PodKast
After a few weeks break to prepare for Christmas, the Kasterborous podKast team reconvened on Monday and we’ll have our latest discussion – naturally focusing on The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe – live on the site later this week. Find it by subscribing to our podKast feed.
Ultimate Regeneration on Kindle
In addition, we have some great news for fans of Ultimate Regeneration and those of you who held off buying it for an electronic version. While an eBook release has already been made we’re pleased to announce that the book will shortly be available for Kindle devices and any mobile device with a Kindle app.
We’ll have full details and an explanation of how to read the book on a Kindle in the next couple of weeks. We’re also in the early stages of preparing a follow-up title…
What’s New for 2012?
Finally, a run down on some of the things you can expect from Kasterborous over the next 12 months beyond the usual news and reviews
- More interviews!
- More features!
- At least one new publishing project (more on that soon)!
- A new forum!
- And of course the podKast!
