Children In Need Surprises?

If you lot can spend a few moments controlling your breathing rather than hyper-ventilating over the Doctor Who movie news, we can tell you that there seems to be a bit more to this Friday’s Children in Need than a clip from the Christmas special!

Yesterday we got plenty of hints from the BBC Doctor Who Twitter feed to the effect that Matt Smith will be appearing as the Doctor at some point during the telethon!

14:44 There’s an extra special treat for Doctor Who fans on Friday’s Children in Need… Or at least there will be if things go according to plan!

15:25 Hurray! Things ARE going according to plan! Steven Moffat’s mini-script has just hit the in-boxes of a lucky few… Must look over shoulders…

16:44 Great! We can confirm that Matt Smith will be back in the bow-tie soon because the Doctor returns on Friday night in Children in Need.

17:59 We’ve seen the short script and it is NOT what you’d expect. Oh, it’s funny and fast and Doctorish and brilliant… but not what you’d expect…

Naturally no one knows what any of this really means right now, but we’re pretty sure that it will be worth watching.

Children in Need and Doctor Who have a long history of co-operation, with 2007’s Time Crash and 1983’s The Five Doctors both airing as part of the fundraising (who said Dimensions in Time?!)

The 2011 Children in Need event begins broadcasting on BBC One on Friday at 7.30 pm through till 2 am on Saturday morning, stopping only for the news. You can catch up with all of the latest fundraising efforts from the broadcaster via the Pudsey homepage.
