On Yer Bike, Arthur!

It can sometimes be a hard life if you’re an actor. Just ask poor old Arthur Darvill aka Rory Williams/ Pond about an experience that he recently went through when filming scenes for the most recent episode of Doctor Who, Let’s Kill Hitler.

By now, you’ll have all seen the episode (and if you haven’t then WHAT are you doing here? Go over to the official BBC site now and tuck in!) which features a sequence with Rory and Amy chasing a recently regenerated Melody Pond through the streets of Germany on a motorbike.

But much to Arthur’s dismay, he was not allowed to ride the bike himself, health and safety regulations being what they are, and have to have a stunt man filling in for him. Leaving the actor ever so slightly miffed:

“They got some guy who had won lots of bike racing competitions…I was fairly disappointed, yeah. In fact there was one bit where we had to stop the bike and there were just two guys behind it pushing it along, and then stopping it.”

But being the nice fella that he is, Darvill does go on to praise the stunt team’s work anyway. Plus, it’s not all that bad, he still gets to work the greatest job that you could possibly have in the world which probably more than makes up for it.

Swings and roundabouts eh?

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
