Doctor Who US Airdate!

Entertainment Weekly have revealed that BBC America will be screening Part One of the Doctor Who Series 6 opener on Saturday, April 23rd at 9pm ET!

This means that the show will more than likely air in the USA the same day as the UK premiere – it is unlikely that the USA will see the episode first. This ties in with arrangements made in 2010 to reduce the gap between the broadcasts and encourage fans to watch the show on TV rather than downloading it from the web.

Rumours in the UK indicate that the series – the second to star Matt Smith as the Doctor – will kick off on Saturday April 23rd (aka “Easter Saturday”) with Part Two screening the day after on BBC One. There is as yet no confirmation as to the UK screening dates or times, however.

Written by Steven Moffat, the episode sees the Doctor and companions Amy and Rory on a secret summons that takes them from the desert in Utah to the Oval Office in 1969. The episode guest stars Mark Sheppard (Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica and many other US shows) and sees the return of Alex Kingston as River Song.

Exciting news for all fans in the USA!

(Edit: yeh, we changed the article when it transpired that the dates were wonky!)
