Alex Kingston on The Late Late Show

We’ve gotta hand it to Craig Ferguson; this man never fails to stand up for what he believes in – making sure everyone in the United States sees and falls in love with Doctor Who.

Recently, he confirmed via Twitter that Thursday night’s episode of The Late Late Show will be yet another must-watch for Doctor Who fans; not only has CBS finally acquired the rights to broadcast the Doctor Who theme music, they’ve also secured River Song actress Alex Kingston for a guest appearance!

“Finally cleared Dr Who cold open. I’ll broadcast it on CBS Thurs when River Song is on the show.  Apologies to those who don’t know Dr Who.”

Getting hold of the rights to air the Doctor Who cold open has been a long time coming.  After a rather frustrated Ferguson stood before his television audience in November with a much-scaled down intro to Doctor Who Night, he implied that the cold open might possibly leak onto the internet somehow.  A couple weeks later, it did.  And in mid-December, Ferguson made sure his Twitter army didn’t forget it:

“Just a reminder. Intellect & romance over brute force & cynicism. #f***yallhaters.”

We’re sure Kingston’s presence on Thursday will be nice too.  Maybe she’ll finally tell us who River is!  Yes, we know, fat chance.

Thursday’s Late Late Show technically airs on Friday at 12:30 AM for those on the Eastern seaboard, though still on Thursday for those in Central time, at 11:30 PM, on CBS.
