Sources from Down Under are reporting that this years Doctor Who Christmas Special will be fast tracked to ABC Television where it will be shown on Boxing Day.
In the previous years Australian fans have had to wait several months for the specials to air with The End of Time being showing in the middle of  Februrary.
The special which features Sir Michael Gambon (The Singing Detective, Harry Potter) and the acting debut of Welsh mezzo-soprano bombshell Katherine Jenkins is almost certain to air in the UK on Christmas Day this year- although nothing will be confirmed until the end of next month.
It is also believed the special will be similarly fast tracked in Canada and the US.
It is not known which medium the episode will air first. For the premiere of The Eleventh Hour ABC streamed the episode on its iView player (the Aussie networks iPlayer equivalent) from midnight on the 16th April – a full two days before it was air to Austrailian TV audiences.
Previously, episodes have been broadcast just two weeks after their BBC debuts.
