Tom Baker Says…

Though Tom Baker is loved far and wide in the Whoinverse even the most ardent of Baker defendants would baulk at his meagre cinematic outings. The Golden Voyage of Sinbad not withstanding, its slender pickings: The Mutations, The Magic Roundabout, and (shudder) Dungeons and Dragons – his name won’t be embossed in star on Hollywood Boulevard any time soon. (No Nicholas & Alexandra? – Ed)

TomBakerSays.com is a considerable effort that dates back to 2006, and is built around Tom’s apparent reading of every word in the Oxford Concise Dictionary for BT’s phone messaging service. This is the system whereby iut is possible to send an SMS message to a landline phone, and Tom was used as a celebrity voice to promote the launch of the service.

Fan Mark Murphy seems to have spent a few credits on sending text message quotes from movies (and more!) which wraps those distinctive tones around some of cinemas finest dialogue (though its mostly just a chance to hear Tom say some very non CBBC’s language.)

Choice phrases from the likes of The Usual Suspects, Die Hard, and Pulp Fiction all get the Baker treatment.

Its pretty unsophisticated stuff but if you’ve time to kill and you want to hear just how Tom would eat someones liver or to hear him introduce us to his little friend, its worth a moment of your time.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
