Smith Lets Slip SJA Details

Bow and curtsy before Ms’ Sladen and Manning – Matt Smith has told SFX how  ‘very excited’  he was to be able to appear with the Who ‘royalty’ for The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Smith will feature as the Doctor alongside Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith) and Katy Manning (Jo Grant) for the sister series – check out this clip for a sneak preview!

He revealed that:

“You never lose sight of the fact that you’re part of a programme which has been around for a very long time and will doubtless go on for a very long time in the future, long after I’ve stopped playing the Doctor.”

Call The Sun newsdesk; he’s quitting!

The actor has also let slip a few details about the forthcomming episode Death of the Doctor - written by former Who head writer Russell T. Davies.

“There are rumours of the Doctor’s demise, which obviously cause Sarah Jane a great deal of concern and an understandable need to try to help by rushing to his side,” he explained. “It’s drama on a grand scale, with some tense scenes inside a secret base beneath Mount Snowdon.”

The Sarah Jane Adventures begins Monday, October 11th on BBC One.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
