Shooting has commenced this morning in Cardiff for the 2011 series of Doctor Who, reports GallifreyNewsBase.
Apparently the first episodes to be produced will be 3 and 4 – these are directed by Richard Clark who previously directed 2007’s Gridlock and The Lazarus Experiment, and include the much-anticipated episode by fantasy author Neil Gaiman, as well as an episode from Mark Gatiss to add to his previous contributions The Unquiet Dead (2005), The Idiot’s Lantern (2006) and Victory of the Daleks (2010).
News of Gatiss’ script leaked from the Twitter feed of director Richard Clark, and while it is yet to be confirmed it makes sense to assume that Gaiman and Gatiss’ episodes will form the first production block given the director’s apparent familiarity with them.
So – this is it! The Steven Moffat era continues as of today and your favourite newspapers and websites will resume normal Doctor Who coverage!
Look out for snaps of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan in their usual states of off- and on-set amusement between now and Spring 2011!

All very exciting.
Fantastic news that Arthur Darvill was at the read through (as reported GB)meaning his continued status as a companion.
I have enjoyed Richard Clark’s work on the show and glad to see an experienced hand in the directors chair.
I heard on the Radio 2 traffic report this morning that there’d been an accident at Treforest Industrial Estate, Upper Boat… My first thought was immediately – “Aargh! Doctor Who!”
