Whithouse for Series 6?

Might Toby Whithouse or Paul Cornell be writing for Doctor Who again in the near future? That’s certainly the feeling SFX are giving after a recent San Diego Comic Con session!

Doctor Who's Toby Whithouse, creator of Being HumanAs part of SFX’s “British Invasion” panel, Whithouse was asked if he or fellow panelist Paul Cornell might write again for Doctor Who, to which the Being Human creator replied:

“We’re contractually not allowed to say.”

Sharp as ever, another fellow panelist, award-winning novelist China Miéville, said, “We can apply a bit of detective work here. If Toby’s contractually advised not to say anything, that must mean he’s under contract.”

Which received a “no comment” stare from Whithouse.

Whithouse has already contributed 2010’s Vampires of Venice in addition to the huge responsibility of 2006’s School Reunion – meanwhile Paul Cornell was already well regarded in Doctor Who fandom as a novelist before 2005’s Father’s Day and 2007’s modern classic Human Nature.

The feeling from SFX’s website is that Miéville has successfully made the necessary deduction – but of course at this stage, it is merely speculation…
