We’ll start with the bad news first and get it out of the way; the cost of the bundle of Episodes 1 and 2 for international customers on the Direct2Drive website has increased from $3.70 to $4.95. And that’s still not yet close to touching the BBC-reported $6.99! The price is going up people, get your copies before it’s too expensive late!
Moving on to a lighter note, IGN doesn’t seem to be losing much money from the recent price slash; the combo-pack of City of the Daleks and Blood of the Cybermen has pole-vaulted to the very top of Direct2Drive’s charts! In fact, it’s number one spot is currently three places higher than the legendary Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic! How’s that for our favourite franchise’s international appeal?
Of course, the fact that the games are available exclusively on Direct2Drive probably doesn’t hinder IGN’s profits…
If you’re one of those customers who’s foreign but not American, and you’ve been having a bit of trouble accessing the Direct2Drive page, see if this advice from Kasterborous reader Laz (from a comment in our last report on the games) helps you out:
“Okay, [Direct2Drive has] solved it.
“Or, better, they’ve explained me what to do: since the game is only available on their US site (to anyone, but only on that site, not the .eu or .co.uk ones), the first thing to do is switch homepage to the .com address with the link on the top right (or going directly here: http://www.direct2drive.com/?no-redir=1) and then the original link will work (or you can just click on the DW thumbnail you’ll find there). I guess it probabily is that “no-redir†parameter that fixes it.
“Anyway… I just bought the games!”
If you decide to try out this method, let us know in the comments or via e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any success! And many thanks to Laz for getting in touch with the folks at Direct2Drive and coming up with a solution!
