Vincent and the Doctor Trailer

Doctor Who continues this week with an episode by the highly regarded Richard Curtis – Vincent and the Doctor has been the focus of a lot of press attention this week, thanks to Curtis’ previous successes such as Blackadder and The Vicar of Dibley, not to mention his movies.

Along these much loved BBC comedies, Curtis also wrote Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Love Actually – all ow which starred Hugh Grant, and the latter of which co-starred Bill Nighy, who appears in Vincent and the Doctor as Dr Black.

(Nighy was of course famously announced “exclusively” by the Daily Mail in 2004 as the Ninth Doctor. How we laughed!)

Tony Curran is the true star of the episode however, portraying the legendary artist Vincent van Gogh – get a sample of him alongside Matt Smith and Karen Gillan as the Doctor and Amy in this trailer for the episode (and look out for the captions!):

Vincent and the Doctor airs at 6.40pm on BBC One and BBC HD this Saturday, 5th June.
