Torchwood The Musical!?

No, really! A musical version of Torchwood was planned by the BBC, according to excerpts from the new edition of Russell T Davies and Benjamin Cook’s The Writer’s Tale – with ABBA’s Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus on board to write songs!

The new release of the book – which features an additional 300 pages covering the last 18 months of Davies’ reign as Doctor Who showrunner – also includes clarification of the rumour that Prince Charles was asked to appear in Voyage of the Damned.

On the matter of Torchwood: The Musical, it seems Davies may have been as incredulous as we are:

Russell T Davies reveals that he was asked about the concept and told:

“They have the two chaps from Abba on board.”

Davies said after he had finished laughing he asked for clarification.

He was told: “Yep. Bjorn and Benny love Torchwood.”

The new edition of The Writer’s Tale is out next week, and is available from Amazon now for just £11.98!
