Uber tabloid The Sun has picked up on the Doctor Who Magazine exclusive that former Coronation Street acress Suranne Jones has been cast in Series 3 of The Sarah Jane Adventures.
The “Karen McDonald” actress will appear in episodes 9 and 10 of the run (presumably the finale) and producer Nikki Wilson reveals that they had Jones in mind for the part from the off.
She said: “We conceived the character in a story meeting about 18 months ago and immediately named Suranne as perfect to play her – never imagining we’d actually get someone who’s in so much demand.
“But as soon as she saw the script she said yes.”
Jones is listed as having appeared in Coronation Street and Harley Street – however the best thing you’re likely to catch her in are reruns of the excellent Ray Winstone series Vincent.
Also appearing in Series 3 of The Sarah Jane Adventures are Floella Benjamin (Playschool) making a return as Professor Celeste Rivers, Donald Sumpter (Doctor Who adventures The Wheel in Space in 1968 and The Sea Devils in 1972) as villain Erasmus Darkening and even BBC Entertainment reporter Lizo Mzimba!
