Masterful Return

Hot on the heels of the new Waters of Mars trailer is the confirmation from the BBC of the return to Doctor Who of the Master, played by actor John Simm!

Described by the BBC’s Official Doctor Who page as:

“…callous and charismatic, sick, psychotic and enormously likeable. In short, everyone’s favourite megalomaniac.”

…rival Time Lord the Master – thought dead at the end of Last of the Time Lords – returns to cause problems for the Doctor later this year.

The Master is expected to appear in the final two episodes to star David Tennant which will be shown after Waters of Mars; many expect these installments to be screened at Christmas, possibly on Christmas and New Year’s Day.

At the San Diego Comic Con panel on Sunday July 26th, the Master’s presence in the finales was confirmed by a trailer that we’re yet to see in the UK. Apparently it went a little bit like this:

They show the trailer for Tennant’s last excursion as Doctor Who. Many cheers for the appearance of Catherine Tate. And many many more when the voice whispers: “He returns” and a blonde John Simm turns around, and you hear his voice saying “My name. Is. The MASTER’
