Doctor Who News no image

Exterminate Market Researchers!

Exterminate! – the cry of Doctor Who villains the Daleks – is the third most popular TV catchphrase among children, a poll of adults has revealed.

Hang on – a poll of adults?

Adults, not children have reported that childrens favourite catchphrase is Homer Simpson’s “D’oh!”, while Fred Flintstone – not exactly contemporary – hurtles in at #2 with “Yabba Dabba Do”?

I’d wager that the majority of children using the term “D’oh!” don’t even recognise it as purely Homer Simpson, while the chances of any child knowing “Yabba Dabba Do” are minimal.

Ergo, Exterminate – a phrase that echoes around playgrounds even when Doctor Who isn’t on – should be number 1!

Perhaps the Market Research people should ask people with children an out and out question such as “what is your child’s favourite TV orignating catchphrase?” rather than “Which catchphrase do you most associate with your child? Rate each from 1 to 10 depending on the strength of association where 1 is not associated at all and 10 is complete association.”

(Apologies to any Market Research organisations if I have accidentally and inexplicably breached your copyright by guessing that question)
