I love local Doctor Who news, and finding out that a young lad in Bishop Auckland in County Durham has been given such a superb gift came as a pleasant surprise.

Six-year-old Doctor Who fan Nathan Taylor’s Police Box was built by his stepfather Stephen Hudspeth, who cleverly worked on the TARDIS replica during evenings and weekends.

Nathan’s mother is Rachel Maughan who said:

“Nathan is a big fan of Doctor Who, and Stephen wanted to do something for him that he would always remember. “It was too big to fit in the garage, so we kept it hidden under a tarpaulin behind the shed and told Nathan it was a greenhouse.” painstakingly replicating the smallest of details to ensure the finished article was as realistic as possible.

Stepfather Stephen painstakingly replicated the finished article in considerable detail, ensuring that Nathan’s TARDIS is as realistic as possible. not too realistic though!

Ms Maughan said: “He was so stunned. I think he thought he was really going to go back in time. “We could not get him out of it for the next week.”
