It is with sadness that Kasterborous.com marks the passing of Peter Copley, known to Doctor Who fans as Dr Warlock in the Tom Baker story The Pyramids of Mars.

Peter Copley was born in 1915 in Bushey in Hertfordshire and had a very long and distinguished career appearing in hundreds of TV shows, among them some genre classics such as Doomwatch, The Avengers, Survivors and most recently as Greyhald Spold in Sky One’s adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s The Colour of Magic. He also appeared in One Foot In The Grave and Cadfael as well as numerous other shows.

He trained at the Old Vic Theatre School and later worked with the likes of Olivier, Gielgud and Richardson and appeared in many films by some of the great directors such as Polanski and Spielberg.

In the 60s he became a lawyer but returned to acting, becoming well known for authoritarian figures such as doctors, priests and lawyers.
