Russell T Davies has claimed that David Tennant may not leave Doctor Who.
In a rather bonkers set of words put together to form a sentence, outgoing Doctor Who head honcho (I’ll try not to use that phrase again, kids) Davies said:
“David may never leave, he could go on for ever. I haven’t talked to him about leaving. Maybe it will never happen. Maybe he’ll be 70 and have to be taken off the set.”
Or perhaps he’ll leave after the five specials. Who knows – evidently not the man in charge of writing a regeneration scene!
Recalling the first audition for Casanova (which brought Tennant to widespread attention), RTD says:
“David has brought everything to Doctor Who. I remember exactly where I was when I saw him audition for Casanova [also written by Davies], I thought, ‘Here is someone saying the lines exactly as they are written.’ But mainly it was the sense of humour. A lot of straight men don’t handle humour well, but he can do the tragedy, too.”
Not certain about that last line, though.
