John Barrowman on Torchwood 3

Yesterday everyone’s favourite West End showman and Whoniverse star John Barrowman dropped in on Steve Wright’s Radio Two show to discuss Torchwood, Doctor Who and his future projects. (You can still listen to this on BlogtorWho.com).

In it he revealed that although Torchwood has been shooting for around two weeks, he’s only so far done about three days filming. He also noted that the production sees Torchwood series 3 as "like a mini series to make an impact for the new viewers we’re hopefully gonna grab".

Naturally, conversation turned to the topic of the departure of everybody’s favourite Time Lord, and David Tennant’s long term future on the show under Steven Moffat:

As far as i kow – this is John talking, not anything any producers have told me – the series is done for a little while and Russell [T Davies] and Julie [Gardner] are moving on to other territories… as far as I know they’re doing specials… but as of the future after that I don’t know. I have no idea who they’ll choose. I think it would be nice to go in another direction

Interesting that John hasn’t said that David Tennant isn’t leaving…

A long-term Doctor Who fan, Christian grew up watching the show and has early memories of the Graham Williams era. His favourite stories are Inferno, The Seeds of Doom and Human Nature (although The Empty Child, Blink and Utopia all come close). When he’s not bossing around the news team, Christian is a freelance writer specialising in mobile technology and domestic computing, and enjoys classic rock, cooking and spending time in the countryside with his wife and young children. You can find him on Twitter, Facebook and Google+.
