Captain Jack America?

Speaking at the recent Comic-Con in San Diego, John Barrowman remarked on how he’d love to play another heroic captain – Marvel Comics’ Captain America.

The hero – originally a Timely Comics creation of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby in the 1940s before being incorporated into Marvel’s continuity in the 1960s – is currently the subject of a movie set for release in 2011. Currently heavily in the pre-production stage, it has been in development hell since 1997.

“I’d love to play him, he’s one of my favourites and there are some things in the pipeline…”

The first issue of Captain America protrayed the stars and stripes costumed hero Steve Rogers punching Hitler.

Is that a genuine pipeline, or just an agent putting out feelers? Time will tell…
