As per the month-old rumours, Peter Davison is slipping back into his cricket attire for one last appearance as the Fifth Doctor in this years Children in Need, opposite current Doctor David Tennant!
The short scene is written by Steven Moffat, and will be broadcast as part of the Children in Need fundraising evening on Friday 16 November 2007. Says Peter:
“It is an honour for me to be able to make the connection between the Fifth Doctor and the Tenth Doctor,” noted Peter Davison. “However, now is not the time for sound-bites. I can feel the hand of history on my shoulder, even if I can’t do the buttons up!”
This is of course not the first time Peter has returned to Doctor Who… save for turning up on set with his children on several occasions since the series’ return, he has also taken part in countless Big Finish audio adventures since 1999, recorded voiceovers for the video game Destiny of the Doctors, appeared in the 1993 Children in Need adventure Dimensions in Time and, of course, appeared in the first series of Doctor Who: Confidential along with other classic era stars.
Children in Need 2007’s Doctor Who tale is titled Time Crash (sailing close to the wind there, Mr Moffat) and of course will not be the first time we’ve seen multiple Doctors on screen – The Three Doctors started the trend off in 1973 for the show’s 10th anniversary, and the idea was repeated with The Five Doctors in 1983, which incidentally starred Peter Davison as he was the current Doctor at the time. 1985’s The Two Doctors featured two Doctors.
The titles give the game away, don’t they?
