Welsh BAFTA Adventures!

We’ll leave the new series Press Launch coverage aside for a few moments, as hot on the heels of news that Doctor Who is nominated in two categories of the BAFTAs comes the news that the show is also nominated in the Welsh BAFTAs.

Both Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper are nominated, in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories, and we’ll find out the results in a ceremony at Cardiff International Arena on April 22nd. Russell T Davies is also in contention for the Best Screenwriter prize, while Director James Hawes in nominated for his work on The Chritsmas Invasion; you can read more on this at icwales.co.uk

Meanwhile, the wonderful BBC Official Doctor Who site offers a picture of the front cover of their up and coming Doctor Who Adventures magazine, due for release on April 5th. The fortnightly magazine, for 8-12 year old boys and girls, will feature a free gift on the cover. The site also reports that the upcoming non-fiction title Doctor Who: Aliens and Enemies, will be released May 22nd. Oh an look out for a new collection of photos from New Earth also on the Official site.

Doctor Who continues this week on the US Sci Fi Channel with Aliens of London and their mini-site has been updated accordingly.

eyeofhorus.org.uk inform us that Panini Comics, publishers of Doctor Who Magazine, are releasing Doctor Who: the Glorious Dead: The Complete Eighth Doctor Comic Strips: v. 2 on 17 August 2006. The graphic novel will cost £15.99.

Don’t forget that The Green Death is screened on BBC4 from Monday (7.10pm) as part of their 1973 themed-week. Fans of the BBC serial John Simm and Philip Glenister starring “Life on Mars” may also like to know that thay can find episodes of that show screened on BBC4 next week as well as a special “Creating Life on Mars: Time Shift”, and you can also find Elton john, Cat Stevens and the Kinks in concert.

And finally, as of today, Friday 31st March, London’s The Stamp Centre has stock of ALL Character Options Doctor Who action figures. This includes the hard to find: Rose and K9 (£9.95); Cassandra (£6.95); and the Moxx of Balhoon (£6.95).
