Sarah Jane Confirmed!

Ladies and gentlemen, I must keep it together for a few moments while I write this, the thought of Billie Piper and Lis Sladen occupying the same television screen is simply to much, but here we go…

YES!

Ahem, that’s right, the BBC News website has confirmed that Elisabeth Sladen IS to reprise her role as third and fourth Doctor companion Sarah Jane Smith in the coming series of Doctor Who!

On top of this fantastic news is other confirmed casting information:

Anthony Head (“Buffy”, “Little Britain”, “Gold Blend Adverts”) is to appear in the series, as is “Coyote Ugly” star Adam Garcia. Genius wit Stephen Fry is confirmed as scripting an episode, and the Doctor and Rose will meet a race of Cat People, Queen Victoria and of course the Cybermen!

Just to reiterate, Executive Producer Russell T. Davies has this to add:

“We were delighted and honoured by the first series’ success, and we can promise new thrills, new laughs, new heartbreak, and some terrifying new aliens. The Doctor and Rose are destined to meet Queen Victoria, an evil race of Cat Women, and the dreaded Cybermen. 2006 is going to be scarier than ever!”

We have another trip of a lifetime to look forward to…
