DVD News

The release of the Series 1 Volume 3 DVD is imminent – the cover is illustrated above – and is available on August 1st 2005 from Amazon, among other retailers. The DVD features the episodes The Long Game,Father’s Day,The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances.

Meanwhile, DWAS have reported that some buyers of the Revelation of the Daleks DVD are experiencing playback issues on some machines. This appears as a skip or repeat around 8 minutes in. One possible solution is muted – go to the CGI menu and toggle the new effects off and back on again. Visit the DWAS link above if further help is required.

Finally, the BBC Annual Report has praised BBC1 for reinvigorating Saturday night television. Again, Doctor Who is mentioned, this time by Director General Mark Thompson who also mentioned the David Tennant-starring “Blackpool”. The full report can be read here; a summary version is here.

Furthermore, the BBC Press Office has released “Doctor Who crowns year of “extraordinary success” promoting BBC Wales’ contribution to the last 12 months of television.
