Eccleston’s Method

UK redtop The Mirror has passed judgement on new Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston’s acting method. They claim that he refuses to talk to fellow actors between scenes:

MORE hot news from the set of Doctor Who in Wales. Lead actor Christopher Eccleston has taken a vow of silence between scenes – and requested that no one speaks to him. Why?

Well, it seems that idle chat about what sandwich he wants or whether he fancies a cuppa, ruins everything.

Confusing himself with Robert De Niro, he declared to bemused onlookers: “It brings me out of character.”

Get him.

While amusing, nothing should be read into this report. As seen in some photos pulblished on other websites in the autumn show, Eccleston is more than happy to communicate with his fellow actors betwen scenes. It’s more than likely however that when preparing for a particularly demanding scene, Christopher Eccleston requests and receives some peace and quiet. There’s nothing wrong with taking your job seriously.

A long-term Doctor Who fan, Christian grew up watching the show and has early memories of the Graham Williams era. His favourite stories are Inferno, The Seeds of Doom and Human Nature (although The Empty Child, Blink and Utopia all come close).
