The Gift Reaction

The third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures is behind us already – and with David Tennant guesting, consolidation of the previously changing cast and a good bunch of stories, things are looking good for the fourth series to get the greenlight.

Concluding with The Gift, The Sarah Jane Adventures has been confirmed once more as the natural home of the Slitheen, and their cousins the Blathereen. A tale of impending apocalypse thanks to aggressive and intelligent plants with a quality that is addictive to inhabitants of Raxacoricofallapatorius, The Gift attracted 822,000 viewers for the first installment on Thursday November 19th (an audience share of 6.5%) while 788,000 viewers tuned in for part two the follownig day (representing a similar 6.4%).

Digital Spy’s review of the third series ended with them awarding 4/5 stars – a score we would agree with (although for different reasons).

They sum-up as follows:

The season finale fittingly ramped up the stakes to a global scale, with the dynamic nature of the plot driven in the final part by the eerie POV shots of the Rakweed seeds swarming through the air. A gloriously messy ending, in which the Blathereens exploded after numerous farts… rounded the season off in style. Let’s hope another is on the way soon, and shown in the Sunday teatime slot it deserves.
