The BBC have confirmed that the first of David Tennant’s last two appearances as Doctor Who will be broadcast on Christmas Day!

It’s that time of year again – the BBC’s major Christmas broadcasts have been announced and not only do we get a Doctor Who two parter (the second installment is expected on New Year’s Day) there is also a Catherine Tate special!

The as-yet-untitled Doctor Who special will be the fifth Christmas special in a row, following on from 2005′s The Christmas Invasion, 2006′s The Runaway Bride, Voyage of the Damned in 2007 and The Next Doctor in 2008.

Little is known of the plot for the final adventure of the Tenth Doctor – however we’ll get a sneak peak thanks to Children in Need, which on Friday November 20th will air its annual telethon that includes an exclusive preview of the Doctor Who Christmas special.

Let the countdown begin – the 11th hour is upon us…
