Yeah, Raggedy scared the crap out of me too. Him and the star shaped creature from Rupert, who I dreamt was waiting outside in our backyard to do me in.

Does anyone remember the Feathered Serpent, circa 1976? ITV children’s drama starring Diane Keen with Pat Troughton as an evil priest, set in the Aztec era or was it Ancient Egypt?

Or Into the Labyrinth? A Who-type ITV kids’ fantasy drama starring Ron Moody with Pamela Salem as the sexy witch?

Kids’ TV was great for stuff like that back in the 70s. I have Children of the Stones on DVD!

You can see tantalising glimpses of her in this clip, near the end:

lol – that was Willo the Wisp (i think) that bit disembodied yellow head that looked like a flame.

I’ve heard of The Feathered Serpeant and Into the Labyrinth … but can’t recall them … what were they about ??

What is it about those 1970’s title sequences which ar so brilliant for their time – it was like everyone was really stoned when they devised them. From The Tomorrow People to The New Avengers, Doctor Who (Tom Baker stylie) to Phoenix and Carpet …

The programme that use to really scare me was Armchair Theatre / Thriller .. especially the one with the Nun.

Ignoring Nhoj’s post and continuing with the clutter (clutter’s good! I like clutter! I don’t like Zen.) -

The Feathered Serpent as far as I recall was a bit like the Aztecs but with a supernatural element.

    Here’s the imdb link:

    http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0202732//url:wdcv1vd4

Notice the Who credentials: co-written by Tommy from Planet of the Spiders and starring Troughton and Richard Willis (Varsh).

Into the Labyrinth featured Ron Moody as a good sorcerer called Rothgo after a ‘Key to Time’ type thingy called the Nydus. Pam Salem as bad witch Belor was also after it. 3 kids helped Rothgo look for it, and found themselves in a different time zone every week.

Everyone was scared by that Armchair Thriller! Most of the other Armchair Thrillers were pants, as I recall.

It sounds intriguing – can’t believe i’ve never seen it as a kid. I’ll have to see if they’ve got the full episodes on You-tube. ANd Pamela Salem does look very hot in those clips doesn’t she.

Well i suppose it’s hard for Nhoj to get excited about 1970s nostalgia when his era would have been a decade or two earlier … Nhoj, I’ll see if i can find some Andy Pandy, Bill and Ben and Muffin the Mule clips for you ?? <!– s;) –><!– s;) –>

    Unfortunately, they don’t have ‘wireless’ radio clips on youtube. <!– s:P –><!– s:P –>

Equally unfortunately, I couldn’t find any Feathered Serpent or much Into the Labyrinth either.
