Has got to win the award for worst ending to a TV show ever. If hollywood doesn’t get out of this hole it’s dug for itself, I see a lot of out of work actors in the future.

Well, I normally would not ruin it for anyone, but as it was so bad I feel like I am now saving you all.

So, Sam gets all his mysterious phone calls telling him e needs to do 3 things before he can go home. Then he tells the man on the phone that he doesn’t want to go home (because he is in love with Annie). And then, HE WAKES UP in the FAR future on a space ship headed for Mars.

His 2008 life was just supposed to be a Virtual Reality Suspended Animation dream while he slept on the way to Mars, but it went wrong and he woke up in 1973 with all of his 2008 "memories"

When he wakes up in the future the whole team is there and they are ready to set foot on Mars, Sam realizes that Annie is the one for him and makes up with Gene (who is Sam’s father!?) then, and this is where it gets really "good" they set foot on Mars and we see Gene’s 1973 shoe and pant covered leg step on the surface. The End.

So there you have it, nothing mysterious or life changing. Nothing mystical or godly. Nothing interesting at all. Just a crap ending with a really real bad dream. (That being whoever wrote that ending)

I told Christian out of the forum that I cried tears of blood, and that had to have been the most interesting part of it all.

Yet another example of TV execs dumbing down good ideas for an audience that doesn’t actually want dumb…

And when something very clever gets written, like "Pushing Daisies", it gets cancelled.

Was Colm Meany (Chief O’Brien) a decent DCI Hunt?

Well considering he was only in the original US pilot episode where the entire cast save the lead character was scrapped, I’d have to say no. No he wasn’t. Harvey Kitel was not much better.

Ah. A trailer of the pilot was all I’ve ever seen of the show.

My sympathies Terra, that does sound like drivel, and the original was such a gem.

It really keep coming back to haunt me.

I think what was slightly worse than that ending was a line that was in the last episode it went like this:

Bad Guy (to Sam): Are you sure you’re a cop? Because you look like an Astronaut.

WHAT?! how does someone in regular 70′s style clothes look like an Astronaut? But wait, he turns out to really be an astronaut, how cleaver <!– s:- –><!– s:- –> <!– s::) –><!– s::) –>

Does the US remake really end like you said, terrasolo? It sounds like such rubbish! I was laughing out loud reading your post!

and to think the original UK version was so brilliant…

Now I’m not sure I even want to see the trailer of that US remake. The Spanish one looked weird enough.

whoa whoa whoa, Spanish one? I never even heard of that one. is there a trailer online?

and yeah, the american one , sadly, did end that way. what’s worse is that someone somewhere thought it was a good idea.

Yes, there is a Spanish remake of Life on Mars.

It’s called "La Chica de Ayer" ("the Girl from Yesterday", if you translate litterally, but the spanish title comes from a song, too).

the story seems to have been adapted to a Spanish audience, in that it takes place in Spain during what they call "la Transicion" (the Transition to democracy after the death of Franco)it’s still in the 1970′s.

Here is a link to Thierry Attard’s blog explaining more in English, and there’s the trailer as well, you don’t need to speak Spanish to recognise many of the scenes: <!– m –>http://tattard2.blogspot.com/2009/02/la … -mars.html<!– m –>

He seems to have a rather more positive opinion of the Spanish remake, so it might not be so bad after all. I’m saying this because I like this person’s blog ans I respect him for having worked as a consultant on the dubbing of series 3 of Doctor Who in French, (and the result was clearly better than for series 1 and 2. Shame he couldn’t work on series 4 as well, many fans noticed a loss of quality again)

From the Matthew Graham interview[/url:2lnvf03i] on this very website…

So, moving forward. There’s a U.S Series in the pipeline and intrigingly a Spanish Life on Mars in the pipeline?[/b:2lnvf03i]

    Sounds great!

Are we going to see Franco-ists?[/b:2lnvf03i]

I reckon it could be some Franco-ists, that would be fantastic! But what I was very keen to see, was whether the Germans were going to make one, where a burly copper wakes back up behind the wall! But the show didn’t go down very well in Germany, so it’s a real shame. The U.S one is under construction as we speak.[/quote:2lnvf03i]

    cool ! There’s a Matthew Graham interview on here, I hadn’t seen it ! thanks for putting the link <!– s:D –><!– s:D –>

Now I wonder if there’ll be a French Life on Mars remake someday, I don’t think it would be very good, there’s already been some French remakes of other series, mainly American shows, but nothing I found particularly exceptional or even worth watching (but then, I didn’t find most of the original ones worth watching either)
