I give you the trailer to Life on Mars

PS, the US site tell you that Sam got hit by a car and totally ruined the shock factor of that moment.

I am so glad my Brother and sister-in-law finally took me up on watching this and loved it, because if they waited for the american one I would have gotten grief about how crap it was.

I don’t know, looks like a bad tailer more then a bad show…give the first one a chance, although I can’t see anybody else playing those characters I already know.

Of course, history does not do us any favors does it….:

I thought the trailer was quite good, actually. I’m looking forward to a Starsky and Hutch meets The Sweeney vibe. Wonder if there will actually be any David Bowie music or is that too off-the-wall for an early 70s cop show?

the only thing that looked good in that trailer to me was the body roll after he got hit by the car, the rest looked awful. I want to see the first episode just to compare but I will not tune in otherwise. Life on Mars to me is just fine the way&nbsp; it originally was.

I forgot how bad the Red Dwarf US Pilot was.&nbsp; Now i feel ill.

US foreign policy embarassed me to no end, it’s new holy wars made me want scream to the rest of the world "We don’t all think this way!", everytime i saw Bush on television i wanted to start making random calls to other countries just to apologize,,,,,,,, but nothing has made me want to leave more than the Red Dwarf US Pilot.

Can i switch teams now?&nbsp; I wanna be a Scottsman, Irishman, anything?????? Is Iceland looking for a good programmer/tech?

Of all the reasons of being embarrassed about being American a tv pilot shouldn’t be one of them most of the rest of the world can think of a couple dozen other reasons. But in the light natured vain of this thread — well by in large the US produces far better quality TV than the UK …which is interesting because i wouldn’t have been so quick to say that about 60s and 70s television.

Kingdom, – given your views on Doctor Who, how on earth can you say that?

It may have been true around five years ago, and they might get a couple or gems out still, and be more prepared to experiment than they have been in the past 30 years, and moreso than UK television.

However the top rated American dramas are all guilty of exactly the ‘crimes’ you accuse Doctor Who of!

Well ok – I’m not an authority on US tv … but … here’s a list of what i like and think is exceptional:-

    US [/b:6y73ppm6]

    24
    Lost
    Desperate Housewives
(I’ve heard Prison Break is very good)
I use to like Smallville alot but i’m growing out of it now.

    Ummm … that’s it …

    UK [/b:6y73ppm6]

    Question Time
    Blue Peter
(I’ll add Doctor Who to this list in two years)
Admittedly there’s probably a fair few programmes i’ve missed that i haven’t watched. I’ve never seen Casualty or Holby City or Hollyoaks or Coronation St (well not since the 70s anyway and that was under duress)

    …. ummm … seriously nothing else really springs to mind (I’ve never seen Life on Mars … the 70s wasn’t a nostalgic era for me). What the hell is a ‘jungle bunny’ anyway?&nbsp; <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif" alt=":D" title="Cheesy" /><!– s:D –>

I wouldn’t mind watching it but it sems to similar to the orignal Life on Mars (Except for that meeting at the beginning…wow you American’s have some fancy breifing rooms I think Britian’s version of that is just a pull down white screen). I’d find myself just shouting out what happens 5 minutes into the show. It just seems like a re-make of the show where all the main characters are putting on American accents.

But like I said if I hadn’t already watched our series I would probably watch and maybe enjoy this.

I hope they do just remake it word for word, scene for scene.

There’s nothing worse than when a bunch of overpaid, fluffy, whiney teams of American writers get together to try to improve something.&nbsp; They effectively take a gem and try to spray paint it to look and feel just like everything else on TV.&nbsp; English shows (from what i’ve seen) are the model of experimentation and risks.

    Long Live the Queen!

You shouldn’t let a daft remake make you ashamed to be an American, I can think of millions of far more serious reasons.
