It's always easier to describe a potentially invincible foe in print than it ever will be to bring them to life on the screen, our imaginations will always be superior to the efforts of even the greatest SFX team.
Because of this I have always been reluctant to be too critical of the way The Doctor's enemies have appeared on TV. Having said that, I must admit that part of me died when I first saw the Slitheen - even more so when the ridiculous Absorbalof put down his newspaper! They just looked so absurd that I still, to this day, feel embarrassed when watching the show with people who are not fans.

As for the Cybermen, their low point came when they were defeated by a fat, wimp of a bloke who used 'thoughts of love' against them!
They started out so well. They were so frightening in the early days that, for me at least, their menace easily eclipsed anything the Daleks had to offer. When RTD brought them back they still retained their sense of invincibility and menace - up to a point.
However, these attributes have diminished to such a degree that they stumble around like silver clowns just waiting to be knocked to the floor like insignificant nobodies.

I suppose the advent of Star Trek's Borg race took the Cyberman concept to a higher and more impressive level and the only way I can see the Cybermen returning to their previous level of scariness is to follow the example set by The Borg. They need to have a back story created for them in which they have marched through the universe destroying entire civilisations and creating a mythology of being totally invincible. We have seen them being defeated too easily and too often for them to be feared as much as they used to be.

I was slightly annoyed by the dismissive and superior attitude displayed by Scott in the above preview!
CBBC is something we should all be immensely grateful for. Just compare their output with that of children's TV in other countries and you'll soon see just how high the quality of CBBC is. They don't patronise, they don't force fake morality on to our children, they don't insult the intelligence of their audience and the production values are high. These are qualities not often seen in the trashy imported children's television shown on other channels.

This new show sounds wonderful and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending that children should give it a chance. If only my own kids weren't now in their twenties I'd be be making sure they watched it - if only so I could enjoy it as well :-)
In fact I may even take a look anyway.
Any channel that is a friend of Sarah Jane Smith's is a friend of mine, David and Sophie have never let me down in the past & neither has CBBC. In fact all the ingredients are there for a fantastic little show in the context of children's entertainment!

Sarah Jane smith, Jo Grant ,Martha Smith,Leela,Amy /AmeliaPond,Donna,Tegan,and
Romana (1and2 )
Number one companion would have to be SARAH JANE SMITH.
No other of The DocTors companions have had a single greater impact on the series than that of the great ,now deceased Elisabeth Sladen

My one year old can already say TARDIS and Dalek, so he's well on the way. I'm sure he'll love this.

At last a Doctor Who game with a decent engine to power it. I swear I've seen so many titles since the show returned where studio cut corners, but I'm gladd to see that Supermassive (known for LBP-content) is not one of those.

Good call Philip! Perhaps the Silence are involved (although the cover kind of suggests The Great One)?

Sounds good, but look - they haven't even bothered to photoshop out the Sharpie pen marks on Amy's arm. Doesn't that picture of her come from a DWM cover?
