In other words, it’s Doctor Who doing what it does best; taking established sci-fi ideas, giving them a spin through some of the finest creative minds television has to offer (in this case the untouchable pairing of Hinchcliffe and Holmes) and turning them into something bold, entertaining and altogether more exciting.

Well if you’re Neil Gardner, that was the weekend that Shada – the 2012 Gareth Roberts (Closing Time) adaptation of Douglas Adams’ (City of Death) ‘lost’ serial – was recorded for an audiobook release and he’s been kind enough to share his experiences producing this tale with Regent Times.

Worthy of the cost all by itself is Looking for Peter – fronted by the witty amicable Toby Hadoke (Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf) this touching, illuminating documentary goes in search of the enigmatic Peter R Newman – writer of The Sensorites – who vanished from writing altogether (this sole credit for Doctor Who is his last as a television writer) and remained in obscurity up until his death – which due to his withdrawal from public life couldn’t  even be verified down to a year.

It says something about the warmth and compassion of this documentary that by its conclusion you could very well be a little misty eyed.

The Sensorites is in shops now, with an RRP of £20.42. However you can save money by shopping at Amazon where you will find the DVD for a super-low £12.99!

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will be released on these platforms and the first game play trailer is out there for you to enjoy. Starring Matt Smith and Alex Kingston as the Doctor and River Song respectively, The Eternity Clock sees our favourite Time Lord plus the child of the TARDIS hook up in order to take on the forces of the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Silurians and the Silence all of whom seem to be after this mysterious clock. That is if it is indeed a clock…

The games’ Executive Producer Simon Harris has just released his second blog on The Eternity Clock’s development, giving fascinating facts about the behind the scenes production such as amassing some of the Doctor’s greatest enemies as well as some of the updates that they’ve received for this very unique video games experience.

The Eternity Clock looks like an exciting games that takes the player from the ruins of London to the bowels of a Dalek ship. From the look of the trailer, it will be a 3D side scrolling adventure with some real time events (pressing certain buttons at certain times to achieve goals) but then again, we could well be wrong.

Whatever it may end up being, the clock has started to tick and the Doctor and River are bound to end up in trouble…

Has the Doctor Who game duck finally been broken?

BBC Worldwide has announced today that the console game Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will launch globally, initially on PS3 and PS Vita via the PlayStation Network in March 2012 with a PC version due shortly after.

The first game-play trailer below showcases the monsters in the game…

Gameplay pits players against the most feared monsters from the Doctor Who Universe – the Cybermen, Daleks, Silurians and The Silence. At present early rumours of the game being an MMO look tenuous, but it certainly appears to move away from the pattern seen recently across various platforms in favour of a more action-based premise.

In the game players will be able to take control of both the Doctor and River Song (voiced by Matt Smith and Alex Kingston) to unravel the mystery of The Eternity Clock in March 2012. The clock is ticking…

But if we go back in time and stop ourselves or at least hinder our eventual spending then are we no better than they? Casting money away so freely.

However out of this evil something good must surely come and indeed it does – the model cast from the original Genesis of the Daleks designs looks amazing – and represents yet another serious collectible piece of Doctor Who lore from Titan Merchandise.

The Doctor Who Masterpiece Collection Dalek: Genesis of the Daleks is available to pre-order now before it rises up against its creator and destroys the Forbidden Planet Warehouse on the 30th April.

The new addition to the Doctor Who Masterpiece Collection from Titan is a bust of  the  Fifth Doctor (that looks eerily like it’s made of cake frosting or plasticine). Now you can take home a (nowhere near to) scale model of everybody’s favourite fifth incarnation of the Doctor (1981-1984).

Cake frosting features aside, it really is quite stylish and rather well-rendered! For those with a high level of disposable income and a love of Classic Who to match, this looks like it will be the perfect piece for your mantlepiece!
