Other Roles Played By Doctor Who’s 12 Stars

The website for TIME magazine has released a video compiling all 12 Doctor Who stars and their notable other roles.

Naturally US-centric, the choice of clips is nevertheless a surprise, listing Tom Baker in the Dungeons and Dragons movie and Peter Davison in an episode of Magnum PI, for example, and Paul McGann in a period drama that is neither The Monocled Mutineer nor Withnail & I.

You can probably guess where the clip of Peter Capaldi comes from…

We’re certain you, dear reader, will spot the barminess of these selections (Patrick Troughton in an episode of The Famous Five rather than, say, The Omen), so why not share you preferred list of second-most-famous credits below?

If nothing else, it’ll pass the TIME until 7.50pm tonight…

Personally my first thoughts of Doctors away from the part (and trying to avoid any ones mentioned in the clip above) are…

William Hartnell in Carry On Sergeant
Patrick Troughton in The Two Of Us
Jon Pertwee as the voice of Spotty in Super Ted
Tom Baker in the Blackadder II episode Potato
Peter Davison as the pig in The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy
Colin Baker in I’m A Celebrity… (Oh, Colin, you are so much better than that)
Sylvester McCoy in Rab C Nesbitt and Still Game
    Paul McGann In Alien 3
Christopher Eccleston in 28 Days Later
Davit Tennant also in Rab C Nesbitt
Matt Smith in The Ruby In The Smoke
Peter Capaldi in The Thick Of It (I know In The Loop is in the clip above but so what. Capaldi was amazing as Malcolm)

They missed John Hurt, and he’s probably got the best filmography of any Doctor.

For me Pertwee was Worzel Gummidge, but that’s just my age showing. The Thick Of It was generally better in my opinion than In The Loop, but I remember Capaldi first of all from Local Hero as well – anyone who thinks he can only play sinister/dangerous/dark could do worse than to give that a look!

As for Davison – it has to be All Creatures Great And Small. As a girl of ten or eleven I found it quite off-putting at first that Tristan Farnon was the new Doctor!
