Doctor Who World Tour News Blast: NYC, Mexico & Rio

What a trip!

In advance of the new season of Doctor Who, stars Peter Capaldi and Jenna  Coleman, along with executive producer Steven Moffat, have been traipsing across the globe to interact with fans of the show, hitting seven cities on five continents. With their last stop in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, they have traveled more than 27,ooo miles in support of the show!

We here at Kasterborous know there are just so many pictures and videos coming from each tour stop, so we thought you, dear readers, would like a lovely little round up of some of the goings on from the last three tour stops – NYC, Mexico City, and Rio – that you might have missed. Read on!

Six Year Old Fan Hits Doctor Who World Tour

If you’ve never heard of her, there is an absolutely adorable little girl named Lindalee Rose, a huge Doctor Who fan who does interviews and reviews for Behind The Marquee. Lindalee and her team were lucky enough to attend the Doctor Who World Tour stop event in New York City. and were privileged to meet the cast and see the first episode of the series.

Check out her first report from the event as well as the video below and make sure to check back once the first episode airs to see her review and more of her interviews with the Capaldi, Coleman, and Moffat!

Highlights of NYC

The first video we have for you shows some of the best questions from the Q&A at the New York City event! Looks like they had some really great questions including ones that I don’t remember ever having been asked of Jenna and Peter.

The second video here is a great little recap of the NYC stop with reactions from Capaldi and Coleman, as well as their reactions to what fans said about how the show makes them feel.

Thoughts on the Paternoster Gang, Moffat and Capaldi’s Talks about the “Flirting” Issue

The folks over at Bleeding Cool have posted their own report about the NYC  event, and have included some non-spoliery details about the first episode. One specific point is about the Paternoster Gang and what role they play in the episode, which, according to the writer, will possibly answer some of the questions that have surrounded Capaldi’s casting.

Another point from the Q&A was that Moffat says there were NOT talks between he and Capaldi about the “flirting” between the Doctor and Clara, and that had there been such discussions, they would’ve also involved Jenna Coleman. The review states though that while watching the episode, Coleman and Capaldi work so well together that any supposed issues there might have been are all but forgotten

There are some other details revealed, though personally I don’t think they’d take away from that first viewing, but if you are spoiler-phobic, beware, dear reader. Feel free to read the rest of it for yourself, though – it has me so very excited for Saturday!

Mexico City!

The tour’s penultimate stop in Mexico City was greeted with great swarms of enthusiastic fans (3000 in the theater alone!) and huge applause for the cast.

The Mariachis have the Phone Box!

Moffat In A Fez.

There are no words for this.

RIO! RIO! RIO!

Rio de Janeiro was the penultimate stop on the Doctor Who World Tour before they head back home.

BBC Worldwide have produced this superb video at Christ the Redeemer using a GoPro Drone cam.

Photos and videos are just now coming in to the rest of the world, but we do have a few for you here including Moffat, Coleman, and Capaldi at the press conference and some great fan interactions. Make sure you keep your Whovian dials turned to Kasterborous for more info as it becomes available!

Rebecca is new to the Who world, having only recently watched the entire new series in a span of 8 days. She is no stranger to sci-fi though, being a life long Trekkie and has vague memories of seeing the 4th Doctor on US television as a child. When not watching, reading, blogging, or talking about Doctor Who, she is a fan of pop culture and loves movies and books so much she has to keep a list of both so she doesn't forget any of them. She also likes to make attempts at various forms of art including photography and painting. Rebecca is currently working her way through as many classic serials and as many books related to the show that she can find and wishes she could have been with the Doctor and Amy when they met Van Gogh.
