Impressive Doctor Who Comics Day Announced!

Saturday 26th July 2014 is Doctor Who Comics Day!

Three days after the first two debut issues of their Tenth Doctor and Eleventh Doctor series are released, Titan Comics plan on celebrating their new license – at the San Diego Comic Con and shops worldwide! Notably, there will be exclusive variant covers and signings with the comic book creators.

There are also plenty of competitions: one to win an exclusive SDCC Titan figure of The Satan Pit‘s Beast; and another revolving around the ever-expanding world of cosplay. Participating comic stores will be sent two Doctor Who comics cosplay interactive posters; tweet a photo of your cosplay to @ComicsTitan using the hashtag #doctorwhocomics and the best five, deemed by editor, Andrew James, will win a very special goody bag on Monday 28th July.

A further Twitter competition can be entered to win comics signed by incredible cover artist, Alice X. Zhang… and there’s even one for cosplayers of the two new companions, Gabriella Gonzalez and Alice Obiefune. The winning photos will be turned into variant covers!

As previously announced, there are also signings at Forbidden Planet stores in Bristol and London, as well as in San Diego’s Comickaze, New York’s Barnes & Noble, and Heroes & Fantasies store in San Antonio.

Furthermore, Eleventh Doctor writers (and genuinely nice guys), Al Ewing and Rob Williams will be taking part in a Q&A session on Facebook.

Oh, and Titan has really outdone itself with the ample amount of variant covers available!

Personally, I’m super impressed with their efforts, which you can find more about at their official site. I hope the series takes off exceptionally well. I’ve read the first issue of both series (don’t forget to read the review of The Tenth Doctor #01) and they’re really enjoyable. Fingers crossed they go from strength to strength!
